When Faith Meets the Power of God

When Faith Meets the Power of God

“And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.” — Mark 10:27 (KJV)

What is impossible for human beings to accomplish is not impossible for God. It is unthinkable to compare man with God. God is Almighty and unlimited in strength; there are no limits to what He can do. Man, however, is limited in many ways. Yet when a person makes God his support, there is no limit to what can be accomplished through him.

God created us to demonstrate the greatness of His power through our lives. When a person puts faith in God and trusts Him, nothing will be impossible. There is no limit to what we can reach in life if we depend on God for help in our needs. However, faith in God is not passive. Faith is acting on what we believe God will do for us.

All things become possible through the working of faith expressed in prayer and obedience to God’s leading. The leading of God is by faith and not by sight. When we obey God’s direction by faith, what appears impossible becomes possible. God leads by faith, and our response to His leading must also be by faith. When the faith of God and the faith of man meet, great things happen and the impossible becomes possible.

A clear example of this truth is seen in the city of Jericho. In Joshua 6:1–2, God declared that He had given Jericho to the children of Israel. Yet the situation around the city did not appear to support that promise. The city was tightly shut—no one could go out and no one could come in. By human reasoning, it did not look like a gift from God. Nevertheless, God expected His people to follow Him by faith and not by what they saw.

When God said He had given them the city, He truly had given it to them. We can rely completely on the Word and promises of God because God does not say what He does not mean. Whatever God says, He means. Therefore, we must believe Him and follow His leading if we want to see His glory in our lives.

However, the people still had to obey God’s instructions—to march around the city by faith. Only after they followed His instructions did the city fall before their eyes. If we desire to see great things happen in our lives and experience the glory of God, we must be ready to act on what we believe and obey whatever God asks us to do.

Many believers claim to believe in God, yet they fail to realise that faith must be acted upon. Faith lays hold of God through prayer until His promises become visible manifestations.

The promises of God are true and never false. However, any promise we do not act upon by faith will not become reality in our lives. When we refuse to follow the process of faith that brings God’s Word to fulfilment, we hinder the manifestation of His promises.

Therefore, we must work in partnership with God through faith—expressed in prayer, positive confession, and obedience—to bring His promises into manifestation. God speaks to us through the language of faith, and He expects us to respond in the same way.

The Word of God is the Word of faith, not of sight. If we wait until we see visible signs before believing, we may remain longer in our difficulties. God calls us to believe Him first. Then, in His time, we will see the manifestation of what He has promised and the glory of His power revealed in our lives.
