Endued with Power Before Ministry

Endued with Power Before Ministry

KJV+, Luke 24:49:

"And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high."

Being called or gifted by God is not enough; waiting upon Him for empowerment before entering public ministry is a necessity, not a suggestion. If we desire to truly bless the people of God, we must allow Him to clothe our calling and gifts with His power.

While the world is in a hurry, those called by God must not be. Without the backing of His power, we cannot make a lasting impact in the lives of those He sends us to. A ministry that lacks the power of God cannot produce genuine transformation. The Word of God is full of power, but it must be activated in us by the Spirit through a life of prayer.

Without divine power, we become mere noise makers rather than vessels advancing God’s work. It is not eloquence or motivational speaking that brings salvation, healing, deliverance, and miracles—it is the power of God. A message from God must be soaked in prayer so that it carries the force needed to accomplish its purpose.

A person may be called by God, yet without His power, they risk becoming an entertainer. Gifts without power may inspire people, but they will not draw them to Christ. Many voices today motivate people to trust in themselves rather than in God. Such ministry draws attention to the speaker, not to God.

Therefore, seeking God’s power in prayer is a non-negotiable discipline for anyone called to public ministry. Each of us has been called to make a definite impact—this is part of God’s purpose for our lives. Without His power working through our calling, there will be no lasting change in the lives of others.

God observes our intentionality, diligence, patience, and perseverance as we wait on Him. Will we tarry until He empowers us, or rush ahead in our own strength? Those who are quick to perform often reveal they have not been truly sent. Ministry is not performance—it is the fulfilment of God’s purpose by His power, not by human effort.

The power of God—His anointing—breaks the yoke of the enemy and brings deliverance. The enemy does not release captives through mere words, but through divine power. This is why waiting in prayer is essential before stepping into public ministry. It prepares us for spiritual battles and ensures we do not become casualties on the field.

Through God’s power, we overcome darkness and bring the light of the gospel to those in need. Waiting on Him is not optional—it is essential for impactful and fruitful ministry.

Any church or ministry that lacks God’s power will struggle to grow or make eternal impact. God has not called us to mere activity or busyness, but to meaningful transformation in the lives of His people.

Sadly, many young people called by God are unaware of this truth. In their haste to prove their calling, they step out prematurely. But a genuine calling does not need to be proven. The evidence of a true calling is seen in transformed lives. When people are genuinely blessed through your ministry, that becomes the proof that God has sent you.
