Release Your Heart to God in prayer

Release your heart to God in prayer

“And the LORD said unto Moses, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first: and I will write upon these tables the words that were in the first tables, which thou didst break. And be ready in the morning, and come up in the morning unto mount Sinai, and present thyself there to me in the top of the mount.” Exodus 34:1–2

You must sever your heart from whatever it is attached to and present it to God regularly in prayer so that He may reveal His words and counsels to you and send you to His people in obedience.

God is never in a hurry to send anyone He has called. His first engagement with a man is to introduce that man to Himself in prayer and to establish prayer as the highest priority in his ministry. If you are not available to God in prayer, He will not give you a platform among His people. If God does not know you in His presence, He will not make your voice known in the congregation.

You must detach your heart from anything that competes with your allegiance to God. When you come into His presence, present your heart wholly to Him so that He may speak to you and send you to His people. Release your heart to God in prayer so that He may fellowship with it, inscribe His instructions upon it, and conceive His purpose within it.

Your appearance before God amounts to nothing if your heart is withheld. It becomes a waste of time if your heart is elsewhere while you are in prayer. Your heart will be the first recipient of whatever God intends to do in the church and in the world; therefore, it must be fully available in prayer and not distracted.

You must be known by God as one who dwells in His presence before He can send you to His people. You must be recognised in heaven as a man who stands before God before you can stand before men as His spokesman. Those whom God sends as His oracles are always men and women devoted to prayer. They prioritise communion with God above public service for God.

The one whom God sends is sent from His presence and carries the fragrance of that presence wherever he goes. Everyone who encounters his life and ministry will testify that he has been with God—and that God is with him.

God will test your patience in the place of prayer to see whether you are in a hurry. So, you must be content to be alone with God before He entrusts you with influence among men. You must be satisfied with His presence before He grants you a platform.

You must first become an offering to God in the place of prayer before He makes you His offering to the world.
