Arise and Cross This Jordan

Arise and Cross This Jordan

“Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.” — Joshua 1:2

You must cross the Jordan that stands before you as an obstacle or resistance if you are to enter the inheritance God has given you in Christ.

Jordan overflows its banks during harvest season. You are in your season of harvest—the season of reaping the blessings already given to you in Christ. That is why opposition seems strong. The intensity of resistance is often a sign that your inheritance is near.

This is not the time to be weak in spirit. It is not the time to question God about the fierce resistance you face. It is not the time to complain. And it is certainly not the time to grow cold in prayer.

Your harvest is closer than you think. Therefore, you must be strong in the Spirit and engage in spiritual warfare so that you will no longer remain in obscurity.

The “Jordans” resisting you may not be external alone. They may be:

Unforgiveness
Malice toward those who offended you
Slothfulness in prayer
Lack of self-control
Impatience
Disorganization

You must rise above, overcome, and mature beyond these Jordans to be able to receive your inheritance from God. Anything confronting or challenging you from enjoying the blessings and help given to you in Christ through salvation is a Jordan you must cross.

God has already given us victory over the devil through the death and resurrection of Christ. Therefore, we do not fight for victory—we fight from victory. We contend from a position of rest in the finished work of Christ.

Yet, it is in your engagement against opposing forces that God arises on your behalf. If you do not arise, God will not arise for you. If you refuse to rise in prayer and contend against the enemies of your progress, health, fruitfulness, and fulfilment, you cannot expect divine intervention.

Spiritual laziness, complacency, and slothfulness delay inheritance.
Do not be like Ephraim in Hosea 13:13, who, through lack of wisdom, remained too long at the place of breaking forth when he should have advanced. His failure to rise and contend resulted in unnecessary delay.
Many experience delay—not because God has withheld His promises or lacks power to deliver—but because they are ignorant of the enemy’s devices aimed at hindering them from receiving what is already theirs in Christ.

It is only after you cross your Jordan that the soles of your feet can step into your inheritance.

There is a time for everything under the sun—a time to fight and a time to rest. If you fail to fight when it is time to fight, you will struggle unnecessarily when it is time to enjoy rest. Delayed fighting results in a delayed harvest.

So arise.

Contend against every force opposing your progress. Stand firm against anything hindering your health, fruitfulness, and fulfilment.

Cross your Jordan.

Your inheritance awaits.
