A Living and Standing Foundation
A Living and Standing Foundation
"And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none." Ezekiel 22:30 (KJV)
God is always searching for a man—or a few—in every generation who will stand before Him in the discipline of long and consistent waiting in prayer. He seeks those through whom He can build a living and enduring foundation for what He desires to accomplish in the lives of His people.
Who will deny personal ambition and surrender to the call of God? Who will allow himself to be shaped into a dependable foundation for the destiny of others?
Consider Mary. Though she was betrothed to Joseph and preparing for marriage, she did not argue with the angel who announced that she would give birth to the Saviour of the world. She did not use her marriage plans as an excuse to reject God’s call. Instead, she surrendered her plans and offered herself fully to God’s purpose. She submitted her womb to God’s divine agenda.
Can you place your personal plans on hold when God calls you for the advancement of His kingdom?
God is looking for a man who will become a living and standing foundation—someone spiritually alive to Him, able to discern the thoughts in His heart concerning His people.
He seeks someone who will stand with Him through adversity and prosperity alike—someone who will become His voice to the people, who will not fail when elevated, and who will not convert divine power and resources into instruments of personal gain.
God is searching for someone He can trust—someone in whom He can invest His divine resources to build His people according to His will, so that His eternal counsel may be fulfilled in their lives. Such a person must embrace the long and consistent routine of prayer.
This is not about occasional moments of spiritual intensity. It is about a lifetime of disciplined communion with God—a daily pattern that positions a man for God to entrust him with divine mysteries and power to manifest His glory in unprecedented ways.
The foundation of a house is buried beneath the structure it supports. Likewise, men who serve as living foundations often remain unseen. Quietly and faithfully, they carry spiritual responsibilities before God. Unknown to those they serve, they tarry long in prayer, seeking maturity in Christ and clarity regarding the destinies entrusted to them.
They dwell apart—praying, studying Scripture, and discerning the heart of God for His people. They willingly deny themselves food and pleasures through fasting, humbling the flesh so that the spirit may align with God—to pray accurately and to hear Him clearly.
If God has called you into ministry to accomplish great works through you, a sustained daily life of prayer is not optional—it is inescapable. You must build a strong spiritual capacity before God. Your inner man must be strengthened to carry the weight of the mighty works God intends to accomplish through you.
A living and standing foundation is not built in public moments—it is formed in hidden places. And only those who endure there will be entrusted with a lasting impact.
