God will fulfil His promises to you!

And the LORD visited Sarah as He had said, and the LORD did unto Sarah as He had spoken. (Genesis 21:1)

It is the Promiser who possesses the might and wisdom to fulfil whatever He has promised and to determine when He will fulfil it. God alone has the power and the prerogative of timing to fulfil the promises He made to us. No one can fulfil God's promises for us except God Himself, who works through individuals by His power. Certainly, God will use people to bring His promises to fruition in our lives, but it must be according to His choice of whom He wants to send our way. Some people experience delays in receiving God's promises because they rely on people as their source, which causes God to close the door of His grace to them. Do not run to anyone to fulfil what God has promised you.

Relying on humans to bring about God's promises is an error and a confusion before God. Abraham, in his moment of weakness was deceived by the devil into believing that God would provide him with the promised child through Hagar instead of Sarah. He was unaware that God is singular in His will. Rather than compromising His plan, God will set aside a man through whom He once hoped to fulfil His purpose if that man proves unfaithful, choosing instead someone more worthy. Ishmael was the devil's alternative to Isaac intending to jeopardise the fulfilment of God's plan. If the son that God promised to Abraham wasn't born by Sarah, it cannot be replaced by Ishmael. Isaac is not just a name; he is God's covenant child to Abraham and carries the glory of God.

Even if Ishmael were to change his name to Isaac, he would still not be Isaac. Isaac is not merely a label but the personified plan of God through which God will make Abraham a father of many nations. Ismael was born of the flesh, while Isaac was given by God. The devil may provide something that resembles God's promise, but it will not be exactly what He has ordained. Devilish alternatives lack the glory of God and instead embody unrighteousness, disguised by superficial attractions. The presence of God's glory—seen in righteousness, humility, truth, holiness, and reverent fear of God—serves as identification and recognition of the will of God. If the glory of God is absent, then what we see is not worthy of our acceptance or admiration.

If it is not what God promised, it cannot become or replace His promise.  Many things may seem similar to what God has promised us, but they are not. We must not lose sight of the glory of the promise God revealed to us through His Word for the fleeting allure of alternatives that may superficially resemble it. Do not allow the appeal of these alternatives to distract you from the glory that God has shown you.
