The honour of walking with God

And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters. Genesis 5:22

While many people are preoccupied with their daily lives and do not consider a relationship with God to be significant, Enoch chose to walk with God, earning him unique recognition in Scripture. Our existence, actions, and growth in this world are meaningless without acknowledging God, walking with Him, and serving Him. Enoch recognised that knowing God is the most valuable possession one can have; therefore, he pursued a deep relationship with Him for the remainder of his life. Eventually, God took him away, and he did not experience death like others. He was commended as someone pleasing to God.

Walking closely with the Most High God is the greatest honour, advantage, and privilege given to us as mortal beings. God expects us to respond to this invitation and make the most of the opportunity to know Him intimately and allow Him to use us to fulfil His kingdom's purpose on Earth. The blessings associated with walking with God cannot be quantified. Those who walk with God will never walk alone; He will be fully involved in their lives, leading, guiding, helping, strengthening, instructing, encouraging, and providing comfort. God will empower them to stand strong in faith and spirit throughout all seasons, helping them to fulfil their spiritual and physical responsibilities.

God accompanies those who walk with Him in all their endeavours, serving as their Guide and Helper. He becomes the very essence of their lives. As individuals develop a close relationship with God, they cultivate a reverential fear of Him and live humbly to please Him. This relationship fosters a passion to honour God and live for His glory. Those who walk with God recognise Him as their Source, Wisdom, Covering, Shield, Saviour, and Helper. They remain close to Him and, in turn, He will never bring them shame.

When someone walks with God, He bestows honour upon them, transforming their lives permanently. These individuals are chosen by God to be part of His plans in the world because He knows they will not fail Him. Each day spent walking closely with God brings added honour and improvements to their lives. God makes a covenant with those who walk with Him, ensuring that He will never let them go due to their commitment to fellowship through prayer. The way God communicates with those who maintain a close walk with Him is distinct from how He interacts with others, and He assures them always of His covenant with them.
