KJV+, Ps 42:2: "My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?"
As believers, we must constantly prioritize our longing for a relationship with the living God over worldly desires. Having been raised with Christ, our focus should be unwaveringly fixed on heavenly things, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God, rather than being distracted by earthly matters. Our minds must be set on things above, not on earthly things, and we must prioritize spiritual matters over satisfying our fleshly desires. Nothing in this world can revive our souls and bring joy to our hearts like having a deep fellowship with the living God.
Because of the unparalleled joy that comes from encountering God, we must eagerly anticipate the times when we can meet with Him through worship, prayer, and meditation on His word. Fellowship with God is incomparable to anything in this world. The touch of God in our hearts is unforgettable, and the experience lingers in our spirits. If we see prayer and meditation on God's word as essential ways to encounter the living God, we will eagerly look forward to those times and not let anything or anyone get in the way of meeting with God. We must schedule intimate times with God every day and be unwaveringly faithful to them without allowing any distractions.
