He must need to go through Samaria
John 4:4: "And he must need to go through Samaria."
Samaria lay between Judea and Galilee, and the customary route for anyone journeying from Judea to Galilee would be through Samaria. Despite the animosity between the Jews and the Samaritans, Jesus had a divine assignment in Samaria on His way back to Galilee, compelling Him to travel through Samaria. God always guides His children according to His will for His praise and glory, not necessarily as they wish. The Holy Spirit compelled Jesus to go through Samaria, a path that many Jews would usually avoid due to the deep-seated animosity. Although the leading of the Holy Spirit may seem unusual to us at times, it must be followed if we are truly His servants.
If Jesus had not obeyed God's leading at that time, He would not have been able to bring salvation to the people of Samaria, and we would not have been able to learn the lesson we are learning now from that event in the scriptures. Every divine guidance that seems unreasonable or unimaginable is aimed at fulfilling God's mandate. God's commission for us should not be brought to others for their approval or validation. While it is good to seek godly counsel from leaders who have greater faith or ministry experience, such counsel should not lead us away from God's plan for our lives.
When the Holy Spirit urges us to do certain things, we should not hesitate or procrastinate. It is not a mere suggestion, but a mandate that we must carry out. Even if it seems foolish to others or is not accepted by those around us, we must obey if we are truly children of God. We are saved to be led by the Spirit of God, not by people's opinions. Those who seek to please God and follow His words will not become friends with the world. Our obedience to God's instructions is the true test of our relationship with Him. If we cannot obey God's commandments, He cannot assign us a role in His work, lest we become a distraction and stumbling block to His mission.
