Embrace your uniqueness to glorify God
1 Sam 8:5: "And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations."
The elders of Israel gathered and met Samuel in Ramah, asking for a king to rule over them like the other nations. This act disregarded the fact that God had made them a special and unique nation. When we are ignorant of our identity in Christ, we tend to compare ourselves to others and behave in ways that are not in line with God's plan for us. It's important to remember that we are not like everyone else; we are unique individuals in Christ. We should not conform to the ways of others or base our faith and commitment on their standards. Instead, we should grow in our faith to operate at the high spiritual level that God has prepared for us.
God wants us to live according to the definitive measures of who we are in Christ. It's important to distinguish ourselves from the crowd and manifest our unique qualities and the greatness we have in Christ. We should not use someone else's standards as our own, as we are not the same as others. The revelations of Jesus Christ to you and the visions He sets before you are His demands upon you. He wants you to pursue, reach, or attain them. The level of consecration and sacrifice to God by someone else is not the standard for your life and ministry. The dedication of others is not your maximum potential but a starting point for deeper intimacy with God and the display of His power in your life.
God has given you much to become and accomplish, so He desires a higher level of consecration, prayer, and sacrifice from you. While others may be less dedicated to God, it doesn't apply to you. Recognizing your distinctiveness in Christ will help you understand the expectations God has for you in your generation. Others may not prioritize seeking God for a greater manifestation of His power, but you should. Your deep hunger for God and His glory sets you apart and reflects who you are in Christ. Embrace this hunger without comparing yourself to others who may not share the same passion. Your hunger for God is a result of what you are in Christ and His purpose for your life.
