Come now and I will send you

Exo 3:10: "Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt."

This passage teaches us that leaders should not send people out to fulfil their assignments without providing them with the necessary training, skills, and resources. Sending people out without proper preparation is unfair and unwise. Leadership is about empowering others and turning followers into leaders in their own right, within the scope of their God-given abilities and responsibilities. We should not keep those who serve under us as followers indefinitely, but rather train them and give them meaningful tasks. Everyone seeks purpose and fulfilment, so we should assign responsibilities based on the grace and abilities that we see in each person.

We must resist the temptation to hold back individuals whom God is assigning to new tasks different from ours due to our fear of losing them. Instead, we should take on the responsibility of mentoring them by involving, guiding, blessing, and overseeing them so that they can fulfil God's purposes for their lives. God will reward us for this by sending us many others who will be beneficial to our ministries. Keeping people with us whom we are supposed to send out to fulfil their ministries will provoke God's anger.

It is through our obedience to God in releasing such individuals that He will send more people to us to train and dispatch for the advancement of His kingdom's purpose in our hands. One reason why some thriving churches or ministries no longer thrive is due to their leaders' reluctance to release individuals whom God is directing to start new assignments. Some individuals who were eventually released by certain leaders were sent out unceremoniously. As a result, the ministries or churches led by these leaders became stagnant because of the bitterness they harboured towards the individuals who had left.
