Mat 4:1: "Then was Jesus led up of the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil."

After the wonderful experience that Jesus had with the Holy Spirit and His acknowledgement as the Son of God by the Father, one might expect Him to immediately begin His ministry. However, this was not the case. God allowed His Son, Jesus Christ, to be tempted by the devil to see if His human nature would cause Him to abandon God's plan to save humanity. God often tests individuals whom He plans to use, to determine whether they are obedient under all circumstances.

This trial was a necessary step for Jesus to be fully known in His human nature and to receive empowerment from the Holy Spirit for the ministry He was sent to fulfil. During this challenging experience, Jesus proved His faithfulness to the Father by standing firm against the devil's temptations, demonstrating that He truly was the Son of God and remaining obedient to God's words. We should imitate the example of Jesus through our loyalty to God and not lose faith in Him during trials.

The proven of our faith in God is for our spiritual advancement and the manifestation of God's grace in our lives to bless others, not for our downfall. God is not trying to demote us during these wilderness experiences; rather, He aims to glorify His name through us in ways we may not have imagined. God is still working according to His prophetic plan for our lives, so we should not let our present troubles weigh us down or weaken our hearts. The wilderness experience is not a regrettable end for those who believe in God, but a transition that ultimately leads to glory for those who cooperate with God in their lives.

It is natural for God to take us through unpleasant experiences which may make us question whether He is on our side or not. However, our thoughts and attitude during these experiences will determine how long we stay in them. If we are in good standing with God and are going through a difficult experience, it is not by accident; it is a pathway to the fulfilment of God's plan for our lives.
