Jer 13:11: "For as the girdle cleaveth to the loins of a man, so have I caused to cleave unto me the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah, saith the LORD; that they might be unto me for a people, and a name, and a praise, and a glory: but they would not hear."

Just as a belt sticks closely to a person's waist, God wants us to stick closely to Him so that we can become His people and bring fame, praise, and honour to Him. We shouldn't let anything or anyone in this world come between us and God. Anything that takes the place of our love, fellowship, commitment, and loyalty to God becomes a god in our lives. Our connection to God must remain unbroken for Him to reveal His secrets to us, empower us, and use us for His glory. Only those who know God intimately are used by Him.

Our close relationship with God should be the most precious thing to us. People who have had personal encounters with God through Jesus Christ have been transformed and have grown in their faith and service to Him. The powerful memory of their encounter with Jesus keeps them from leaving Him for anything or anyone in this world. God wants us to cling to Him so that we become His assets that bring glory to His name. Without maintaining a regular, close relationship with God, we won't become His precious possession, receive His power or access divine resources to bring glory to His name.

We must individually pursue God and possess His virtue before He can use us to do great works. It is in our fervent pursuit of God that He will be able to work through us to bring honour to His name. Engaging in personal prayer and studying the word of God is crucial for drawing God's presence, attracting His favour, and receiving His power to serve Him and make an impact. If we begin to dislike these spiritual exercises, we will become more focused on the natural realm and lose interest in the things of the kingdom.

Only by holding tightly to God can we be spiritually alive and be effectively used by Him. We must pray regularly that our love for God will grow each day and that nothing else will take His place in our lives. The more we hear, read, and study the word of God, the more our love for Him will grow, leading to improvement in our service to Him. If the love of God is alive in our hearts, we will prioritize Him above anything or anyone else.
