Disciples Indeed
John 8:31: "Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;"
As believers in Jesus Christ, we need to continue to hear and study His words so that our faith can grow and bear fruit. Our faith in Him becomes stronger as we deepen our knowledge of Him, and this empowers us to exercise our faith boldly. Jesus' words reveal His identity, character, passion, and mission. Therefore, regularly hearing His words is essential for us to be His true disciples. Without regular fellowship with the word of God, our faith in Jesus will not grow, and we will not be able to fully understand all that Jesus means to us.
Being born again is not enough to be a follower of Jesus; we must also be devoted to learning and obeying His teachings. Our discipleship experience demands that we consistently give Jesus our attention, listen to His teachings from the scriptures, and obey them. Those who follow this pattern are building their lives on a firm foundation that cannot be destroyed by any challenge or adversary. It is when recognize the necessity of listening to Jesus daily that we will prioritize giving quality time to read and study the word of God daily. Spending time hearing Jesus speaking to us from the scriptures is an investment into our well-being, divine direction, good health, prosperity, and all-around success.
Those who listen to Jesus receive life and experience His support and presence throughout the day. The only genuine way to become His disciples is to delight and continuously reflect on the word of God. Through this, we will faithfully obey His words and find success and prosperity in life. Loving the words spoken by Jesus is equivalent to loving Him, as He is the source of the living words. When we believe His teachings, the life of God is imparted into our hearts, providing us with the grace to follow His words.
