When I have bent Judah for Me
Zech 9:13-14: "When I have bent Judah for me, filled the bow with Ephraim, and raised thy sons, O Zion, against thy sons, O Greece, and made thee as the sword of a mighty man. And the LORD shall be seen over them, and his arrow shall go forth as the lightning: and the Lord GOD shall blow the trumpet, and shall go with whirlwinds of the south."
The passage above reveals how God prepares and uses individuals for His work. We may begin as raw, inexperienced, ignorant, and unprepared, but God will not send us fully to do His work until we have been disciplined, shaped, and filled with His anointing and power. Before we can serve God effectively, we must first surrender to His plan and direction for our lives.
God will not utilize unrefined, unpolished, unmentored, untrained, and undisciplined vessels in any of His plans. God summons those He called us to draw near to Him, to receive the ministry He is calling them to serve in the world for His glory. However, if we fail or are complacent to honour this rare privilege of cleaving in close fellowship with God regularly, we won't manifest His glory in the world.
To be bent by God means to be redirected, disciplined, and shaped for His special use. This process of bending and shaping always humbles us, reminding us that whatever God is doing through us is not of our strength, but of His. Saul, Jonah, Joseph, and even Jesus are examples of individuals who were bent by God to fulfil His will.
Submitting to God's bending process means allowing Him to do what He needs to in our lives, even when it is inconvenient or unpleasant. Jesus Himself prayed for God's will to be done even when it meant suffering on the cross. As leaders, we must put aside our comfort and endure the unsweetened experiences we face to receive the power, direction, knowledge, wisdom and help of God that are needed to salvage the cries of God's people.
