Leaders are made
Hebrews 5:1. For every high priest taken from among men is appointed for men in things about God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins.
It is of utmost importance to remember that leaders are human beings, picked by God from among their fellow men and they like us are prone to weaknesses, and we should not expect quick perfection from them. Leaders may not yet be a finished product, but a material that God is still working upon. In the process of dealing with us, they might make mistakes, and we should show compassion and pray for them.
They are called by God from the level of incapability of humans. They may make some mistakes and commit errors in the process of fulfilling duties. If they have not been a leader, their weakness may not have been noticed. But it became manifest because it has been hidden in their lives all along, and God wants them to deal with it so that it will not spoil their ministry among people.
We should not think that we are perfect and cannot make the errors or blunders that some leaders made. We should be compassionate for them by praying for them and counselling them when we notice their misbehaviour and highhandedness and not bring their errors for discussion.
Although we should expect perfection and excellence from our leaders, they need our prayers and encouragement to arrive there. The way David handled the misdeeds of Saul against him was a perfect example of how God wants us to deal with our leaders when they perform below our expectations of them.
