Why leadership development is self-improvement

Job 32:9 says, "Great men are not always wise: neither do the aged understand judgment." This means that simply being a leader due to age, experience, gifts, or by calling does not automatically make one wise. Leadership wisdom comes from God and is found in God and is revealed in the scriptures. Every successful leader acquires the necessary skills and wisdom to become credible.

Developing a proper and excellent mindset is the key to credibility in leadership. This drives leaders to seek wisdom and continually improve. Everyone can learn wisdom from the word of God, even if they are not in a leadership position. When God calls someone to lead, it reveals their weaknesses and shows them that they are unprepared. This prompts them to seek wisdom and guidance from God to succeed.

It is not the position, age, or titles that make a leader, but rather the development of oneself. Leaders must consistently develop and improve their skills and gifts to make an impact. Even if one is gifted or anointed, one cannot go far in their calling without self-improvement. Every leadership calling is a great assignment from God and it requires learning, development, and improvement of our skills and character to be able to fulfill the plan of God.
