Faithfulness in ministry

The Bible in Proverbs 4:18 says, "But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day." When God reveals His purpose to us, He does so gradually, giving us bits and pieces of the bigger picture. It is important to be faithful in obeying the part of the purpose that God has revealed to us, as this will encourage Him to reveal the next step to us. Instead of comparing our progress with others, we should focus on being faithful to our calling and purpose.

To prove ourselves faithful in the work that God has assigned to us, we must ensure that our ministry survives and continues when we are no longer there. This means training others to do the work that God has given us to do so that the ministry can outlive us after we have finished our part and gone. If our work cannot survive without us, it shows that we don't have a succession plan in view in our ministry's operations and this is a bad way of running the ministry, as we will not always be there. Identifying faithful people and training them to do what we have been doing is crucial to the success of our work.

We have great assignments before us as leaders and our paths will shine more and more as we remain faithful to our calling, and our ministry will enlarge in scope and operation. Therefore, it is non-negotiable to train people to do what God has called us to do. However, we must also prioritize our relationship with God and not neglect our walking with Him so that we will continue to be the guiding light to the people who are looking to us as leaders. If we do this, we will not miss the next instruction that God wants to give us about our assignments. We must remember always that our effectiveness in life and ministry is highly dependent on our ability to hear from God.
