Seizing every opportunity by preparation
In 1 Samuel 17:17, Jesse instructed David to take food to his brothers and Saul. David obeyed and went to the camp. However, he encountered a situation that God had intended for him to handle. Despite not being sent for that purpose, David seized the opportunity and defeated Goliath and the Philistines, displaying the great power of God. David's courage and preparedness allowed him to rise to the challenge and triumph over his enemies.
This story teaches us to always be prepared for more than what is asked of us, as divine opportunities and timing come unexpectedly. Our full potential may not always be evident, but when we are prepared and ready, we can handle great matters and manifest the glory of God. Therefore, we should always equip ourselves according to the knowledge of who we are in Christ, and not just for what we are handling currently.
David's victory over Goliath was a surprise to everyone, but it was made possible because he was prepared for the unexpected. Similarly, we should always be ready to handle greater opportunities that may come our way, and not just limit ourselves to what we are asked to do at present.
