Leadership Ethics
2 Thessalonians 3:7- For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you.
The scripture above teaches us the necessity of living a disciplined life as leaders among God's people. It brings to light that there are ethics for leaders to follow to be able to gain credibility among people. Leadership ethics are pillars that sustain the leadership institution and administration. These ethics are rules, decency, ethos, integrity, or moral code and they are documented in the scriptures for every leader that is called by God to live by and pursue. Every leader should be aware of them, believe in them, and operate by them. These rules of God are the pillars of leaders' forthrightness and godly influence. Without following these biblical models of leadership our morality and uprightness will be at stake, and the church and society will be in chaos. A disorderly church or the world is the product of the disorderly lives of its leaders. Leaders cannot behave or live as they want, they are bound by the rules of God, others may live and do as they like, but not God's leaders. Anyone called into leadership by God either directly or through people must be ready to give up his self-life, otherwise, his self-will or personal ambition will stand as a barrier to being selfless in his service to God's people. Inside the scriptures are ordinances for us leaders on how to live, how to relate with people and lead them, how to handle God's resources, how to relate with fellow leaders, how to relate with the opposite sex, and how to handle offenses and criticism. Living and operating by these principles will put us at the forefront as a guiding light to the people we are leading. Following these bible ethics for leaders will keep us from living a loose life or being unguarded in our lifestyle.
