THE URGENCY OF WALKING ALONE WITH GOD
Mt 17:1: "Six days later Jesus took Peter and the two brothers, James and John, and led them up a high mountain to be alone."
Jesus took Peter, James, and John from His other disciples and led them up into a high mountain to be alone with Him so that He will let them see and experience the higher dimension of His glory. In that mountain, these three disciples saw Jesus’ appearance transformed before their eyes so that his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as light. If they had refused to follow Jesus to go to that mountain, they wouldn't have had this great encounter with Him. Without making sacrifice as a leader to seek God for the greater and deeper things of the Spirit we will be limiting ourselves from manifesting the power of God in a higher and astonishing dimension of glory. There are dimensions of the revelation of the glory of God and we must all separate ourselves as leaders regularly to God to be able to walk in the greatness of God's glory. Separating oneself to the Lord and being with Him is a high mountainous task that involves regular prayers, fasting, and devotion to the study of the word of God and the human nature inside us wouldn't want to do this. But if our goal is to serve God in the power of the Holy Spirit, separating ourselves from the Lord to be alone with Him in intimate fellowship is not an option for us, but a mandate. Every upward walking with God for the fullness of the Spirit of God demands a deeper hunger for God and you cannot accomplish this in your company with men. There are things you cannot see, understand or receive from God unless you are alone with Him in prayers and searching for Him through the scriptures. When a man accepts a leadership calling from God, he has also accepted to walk alone with God so that he can have regular and deeper encounters with God and experience His glory in his life and ministry. Walking with God is a lonely walk with Him and is without people being with you and you are expected to enjoy this lonely walk with God before God will send you to do spectacular works for Him. You may appear to be the only man that is walking in this route with God, but not at all. Some other believers and leaders are also walking faithfully alone with God. It is in our walking with God alone that we will understand that Jesus is much greater than what we knew about Him. We have all encountered Jesus Christ first as the Lamb of God who died to save us, but He is much more than the Lamb of God and it is in our walking alone with God that we will be able to understand many things about Jesus which we are still ignorant of. We must be sensitive to follow the Lord to the closet whenever He is prompting us to do so and be alone with Him there so that He can show us new and deeper things that He has prepared for us which He wants to manifest through us.
Gen 5:24: "And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him."
Walking with God is a lonely life. It is a life of discipline and commitment to God alone. The glory of God in your life will not shine forth and the anointing of God that is domicile inside you will not flow out to bless people unless you learn to walk with God alone. Walking with God alone is a personal decisive lifestyle to regularly seek God at all costs and to please Him at all costs. Whenever God wants to use a man, He calls him alone and not with people to walk with Him. And unless he is walking alone with God, he wouldn't be able to develop the leadership capacities and influence he needed to influence or lead the people of God. Every leader that wants to influence people must grow their influence from God. God is the Apex leader from whom every leader that wants to become relevant in the work of God must grow their leadership potential and influence. And we must be with God always to be able to actualize this feat. Leadership development is a very crucial task for every leader and we need to pursue God always to grow ourselves so that our influence over people will not be waned. You can't be a leader without walking with God alone, and you must enjoy your fellowship with God to be able to grow your leadership influence. You must not see yourself being denied by God from enjoying the privileges that you think others are enjoying, but see your calling as a higher calling that demands the sacrifice of walking alone with God. Leadership is a higher calling than any other calling and its rewards are higher than the earthly rewards.
