FOLLOWING CHRIST: A NECESSITY TO BE USED BY HIM

Mat 9:9: "And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him."

Many people like Matthew are still occupying doing what God hasn't ordained for them in His eternal plan which we must labor in prayer for and preach the gospel to so that God will encounter them and call them to follow Him. Jesus called Matthew to follow Him because following Christ is a necessity to be made to serve Christ. Nobody can follow Christ truly, know Him well, become like Him, and understand His purpose for their lives from a distance. Close walking with Christ is a fundamental requirement to be used by Him. Without closely following Christ no calling from Him will be accomplished because the fulfillment of all His calling upon us is dependent on our relationship with Him and our obedience to His instructions. Ministry's calling will be a mere story with no impact unless we are bound to Christ. Jesus Christ Himself is the ministry of any ministry He has given to us and He also is our message. If we are not following Christ we wouldn't have Him to preach and we will be preaching something else. When the knowledge of Christ fills our hearts in our intimacy with Him, we will know the exact ministry or purpose that He has called us to serve the church or the world.

How we see the people that we have been sent to will determine if we will develop a burden for their salvation or not. When Jesus saw Matthew sitting at his tax collector's booth, He saw an asset for the expansion of the kingdom of God and not a worthless sinner. We must see every sinner in the way that God is seeing them so that we will be driven and passionate for their salvation and invest in their spiritual growth and their leadership maturity. How we see people will determine how we will value them. The value of every man is in their spiritual perspective of what God says they are and not in our physical perception or experience of them. The assessment of everyone is not found in their physical appearance or status, but in what God says they are. The appraisal of every man is hidden secretly in God and is kept from the physical eyes, but it is revealed only to those who care to know. Do not use the physical appearance or the possession of a man to define or rate him. Many carry the weight of the glory of God that are undiscovered yet by people because their value is not put on them, but it's inside them. The treasure of the glory of God is inside earthen, weak, or unappealing vessels. God put His treasures in the spirit of man and not in their physical man so that those whom God has not sent them to will not be drawn to them and hijacked the purpose of God from them.
