A PRAYING SYSTEM
Gen 8:20: "And Noah built an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar."
Noah built an altar, a system, a setup, a structure, or a devotion of regular communion with God in prayer. He built a lifetime system of fellowship with God which nothing will be allowed to interfere with or break. Prayer is ceaseless. Prayer has no end even after your request has been granted by God. Prayer is a lifetime commitment and communion with God. We must continue to pray until we breathe our last breath for we need God always in our lives. No matter what we have gotten or achieved in life, we must remain poor in spirit and seek fellowship with God. Just like we need oxygen to stay alive, so also is prayer a necessity for living as children of God and for manifesting the power of God in our services to God. The fire upon the altar of our prayer must be kept burning and be ascending to God day and night; it must never go out. Leviticus 6:12. We must cultivate and conserve prayer attitude always and this inclination must never be allowed to be let out of our lives. We must esteem our communion with God and never allow anything or anyone to discourage us from speaking to God every day. We are renewing our commitment to our prayer altar every morning that we pray, and allowing God to hear our fresh voice each day, and we must maintain this attitude throughout the day. We can sustain a praying attitude throughout the day without interference with our activities.
Prayer is beyond praying with our mouth, prayer is a quickening, it is a disposition which if we are not in a place where we can pray loud, we can still pray without opening our mouths. Sustaining the system of praying always is dependent more on our self-discipline. If we are disciplined we wouldn't allow any difficulties, troubles, delay, or unanswered prayers to stop us from praying. Determination and strong-mindedness are needed to sustain a regular prayer life. Being intense, consistent, persistent, and fervency are attitudes we must sustain to cultivate a ceaseless prayer life. We must not wait until we start fainting in the spirit before we remember to pray. Our spirit man needs to be strengthened always by God through prayer and the knowledge of the word of God to be able to function and be effective as he should be. When a man is fainting or weak in the spirit and he is not wise to return to the presence of God for refreshment, he will fall to temptations because of his lack of inner strength to withstand them. If you don't pray, you are preparing to faint, to fail, and to fall. Apart from the prayer we have to pray in the morning, we also return to God after each day's work to thank God and to refuel our spirit in our fellowship with Him.
